FreeUSMLE is independently developed. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or approved by NBME, FSMB or USMLE.

Tutor mode explains each answer when you check it. Test mode keeps feedback hidden until you finish.
Why this is free
Medical training is
expensive enough.
Exam fees, applications, tuition and travel add up. Access to more practice shouldn’t be another barrier.
FreeUSMLE is our contribution: an open-access question bank for anyone working toward a career in medicine. Everyone deserves help along the way.
Use it without signing up. If you want to save your blocks, notes and progress across devices, an account is free too.
About the questions
Where the material comes from, and how to use it.
- Sources
- Source-based practice draws on supplied NBME and other study materials, with source identities retained. Original questions and AI-written explanations are labeled separately. Source labels do not imply official authentication, endorsement or ownership. See our Sources & copyright policy.
- AI-assisted teaching
- AI tools help extract and format material and develop explanations and original practice. AI-written teaching is labeled separately from supplied explanations. It is not official NBME teaching and can contain errors.
- Scored practice
- Questions with unresolved keys or essential missing material are held out of scored practice. Results help guide your learning; they are not a validated prediction of your exam score.
