An independent educational project

Why FreeUSMLE exists, and how to read our content

Medical training is expensive. Everyone deserves help preparing, and additional practice should be accessible without a subscription.

Free practice, with a choice about saving

You can start a practice block as a guest without creating an account. Guest records are temporary. An optional free account saves study records; read the Privacy Policy for the actual data practices and limits.

Tutor mode gives feedback when you check an answer. Test mode holds feedback until submission. Practice results are educational feedback, not an official examination result or a validated score prediction.

Where questions and explanations come from

The bank includes supplied real NBME question material and separately labeled original practice. AI tools assist extraction, formatting, explanations and original educational content. AI-assisted teaching can contain errors and is distinct from a supplied source explanation.

Questions with unresolved keys or essential missing material are held out of scored practice. A review process does not guarantee that every statement is correct or current. Check important learning points against appropriate authoritative guidance.

Source labels preserve provenance; they do not establish permission to publish copyrighted material. The Sources & copyright policy explains the limits and how to raise a concern.

How exam-update summaries are prepared

Our updates link to primary USMLE or NBME announcements. We distinguish the source’s announcement or effective date from our own publication and source-check dates. Student checklists are independent suggestions for organizing practice, not official instructions.

AI assists drafting these summaries. “FreeUSMLE editorial team” is a project byline, not a claim of physician authorship, medical licensure, institutional review or an official relationship. We do not present the project as USMLE or NBME.

When an official timeline changes, the newer source should take precedence. This selected resource collection is not monitored continuously. Please use Contact to report an error and include the page and the source supporting the correction.

Use the tool within its limits

This website is for education, not patient-specific medical advice. No passing score, search ranking or completeness of exam coverage is promised. Read the Medical & AI notice and Terms alongside the source information.
